Mara's Gift Guide
"I have always truly loved gift-giving: It feels amazing when you find that perfect something for someone. To me, the best kind of gift is one that’s thoughtful, unique, and personal. Maybe it’s scored on a thrifting adventure, or simply pops into mind at a random time. This year I picked a handful of my personal faves to help inspire—and I truly feel there is something for everyone."
Mara's Gift Guide
1. The Most Inviting At-Home Scent
Le Feu de L’Eau Ivoire Candle
“I always have a candle burning in my home, it’s truly the first thing I do when I walk into my house at the end of the day. I’ve been lucky to work alongside the amazing makeup artist Jo Strettell over the course of my career and she’s one of those people with exceptional taste. She is behind these incredible candles. Made in small batches, they have the most beautiful textures, colors, and scents. I especially love the Ivoire candle. If you aren’t familiar with Le Feu de L’Eau and all they create—I’m thrilled you are now!
2. The Simplest Sippable Bev
GHIA Apéritif
I absolutely love to host & when I do, I always have Ghia on hand. It’s not only the most gorgeous packaging, something to showcase, but I also love its unique taste. On its own or mixed, it’s an amazing non-alcoholic option. (They also have a mini version that’s great as a stocking stuffer).
3. The Lash That Lasts
I love a lash and always have. When it comes to mascara, I want something that’s buildable, quick, and easy, that lifts and holds my lashes and never smudges. This ILIA one has been my go-to, it checks all the boxes.
4. The RŌZ The Perfect H/Air Dry Kit
Even as a professional stylist I am a big personal fan of an air dry—but there is a subtle (very simple) art to it. Great products, the right combing process (in the shower), and a less-is-more approach after you’ve scrunched in product, all contribute to a really good air dry. The essentials in this kit truly allow you to detangle, de-frizz, define, and add texture when needed. The versatility of use is unlimited, plus they make for such a beautiful, apothecary-like addition to your countertop.
5. The Hydration Go-To
Sakara Life Beauty Water Drops
I always look for little ways to care for myself when I’m at my busiest or traveling. It can be as simple as a daily supplement or remembering my beauty drops from Sakara —I keep them in my travel bag or next to my bed.
6. The Skin-Softening Polish
Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Body Scrub
When I get a moment to myself, I make a little self-care moment out of my bath routine: I use this amazing kit on my hair to deeply hydrate. And while I soak, I like to go for a full-body exfoliating treatment using this moisturizing body scrub. It leaves my skin so soft and somehow more hydrated.
7. The Hair Essentials To-Go
RŌZ The Holiday Mini Essentials Kit
Every time I travel I pack my kit full of these minis, both for my clients & myself (often I give mine away to the person truly in need ;). They’re the cutest mini versions of our full size, including our versatile, hydrating shampoo and conditioner, our lightweight protective styling oil, and our smoothing leave-in milk, plus our custom sandalwood comb. It’s perfect for anyone on your list who is maybe new to RŌZ OR for yourself, of course, ahead of holiday travel.
8. The Cosmic Self-Care Calendar
Tata Harper Moonsisters Calendar
I’m a big fan of astrology—it’s fun and it inspires me, guides me, and grounds me in a lot of ways (I even had my favorite astrologer, Heidi Rose Robbins, give readings at my bachelorette years ago). I’m also a big fan of Tata Harper and the products she creates—her formulas are clean, nourishing, and just all around amazing. Which is why this cosmic beauty calendar is so great. I love the little prompts that help create self-care moments—something we all could use a little more time for.
9. The Magic Oil-Balm for Skin
One of the most beautiful brands I’ve ever tried, I’m obsessed with everything Monastery. This moisturizing floral balm is my favorite—it makes such a difference when my skin is feeling dry, which is most of the time. The founder, Athena Hewett, is an incredible esthetician and she makes all of the products in her own lab (which is attached to her gorgeous spa in SF).
