Lisa Weller is a hairstylist and the owner of Twirl Salon, which she opened in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, in 2008. She has more than 25 years of experience as a hairstylist. Earlier in her career she moved to New York to work at Bumble and bumble, where her runway and editorial training began. She has worked backstage at fashion week shows for Guido Palau and has assisted on red carpet looks, including working with RŌZ founder Mara Roszak on Zoe Saldaña's Oscars look. She has assisted on looks for the Met Gala, including with Adir Abergel in 2024. Every stylist at Twirl goes through the salon's apprenticeship program. Lisa judges a shampoo by how the complete formula works for a client's hair and scalp.

Those signs deserve attention, but they don’t identify the shampoo as the cause on their own.
Fine hair with heavy styling-product use may need a different formula from dry, lightened hair with very little buildup.
The claim that sulfate-free automatically means gentle needs more context. A shampoo uses a combination of ingredients, and sulfate-free formulas can still provide a thorough cleanse. I judge a shampoo by how the complete formula works for that client’s hair and scalp.
