About Megan

Megan Robinson is a New York hairstylist who calls herself a dry haircutting specialist. After moving to New York, she worked at White Rose Collective, where she learned to dry cut. In July 2021 she opened Pearlita NYC, a downtown salon she has described as a creative beauty collective. Beauty Independent profiled the salon's opening, and actor Sarah Pidgeon told Into The Gloss that she gets her hair cut with Megan at Pearlita every couple of weeks. In May 2026 she taught a Minimalist Dry Cutting Class at the salon. For RŌZ, she shared advice on 2A, 2B and 2C wavy hair, including how to keep waves from getting weighed down or brushed out.

In Megan's words

Type 2A patterns can get weighed down easily, and tend to lose their shape faster.

From 2A Hair: How to Identify, Care For, and Style Your Waves

With most of the wave patterns we are discussing, the curls will be tightest and most dense near the back of the head, above the nape but below the crown. You can brush those out with a wet brush or wide tooth comb, and leave the top of the hair untouched by a brush to keep the shape.

From 2B Hair: How to Identify, Care For, and Style Your Waves

2c tends to be drier and frizzier, with curls starting closer to the root.
