What Does RŌZ Smell Like?
It's one of the questions we hear most: what does RŌZ actually smell like? The short answer is a misty morning hike in Big Sur. Light, fresh and green, with a touch of citrus. Here's the longer answer, from founder and hairstylist Mara Roszak.
The RŌZ scent notes
The RŌZ signature scent opens bright and citrusy, moves into something green and softly floral, and settles into clean, woody warmth.
| Notes | |
|---|---|
| Top | Bergamot, blood orange, pink pepper, mandarin |
| Heart | Fig leaves, neroli, jasmine |
| Base | Vetiver, amber woods, musk |
In plain terms: think fresh-cut grass with a hint of citrus. It's light and verdant, and it sits right in the middle. Not overly feminine or floral, and not dark or masculine.
The inspiration behind the RŌZ scent
The scent began with a morning walk in Big Sur. Mara wandered through a shaded, natural garden still wet with dew. She could smell the earth, but everything felt fresh, and that was the feeling she wanted to capture.
For Mara, scent is part of what makes haircare feel complete. "When you hug someone, yes, you smell their skin, but you definitely smell their hair," she says. Hair is porous, so it holds on to fragrance.
That's also why she was careful about strength. A heavy fragrance can be off-putting and polarizing. She wanted something universal but elevated: a scent that feels luxurious without overpowering anyone.

One scent, every product
Every RŌZ product carries the same signature scent, and it will stay that way. In some formulas the base ingredients come through a little more, so you may notice the scent shift slightly from one product to the next.
Because it's the same fragrance throughout, your shampoo, conditioner and stylers won't clash. They layer on top of each other and build together.
How strong the RŌZ scent is and how long it lasts
"A scent doesn't have to be overpowering to make a statement," Mara says. RŌZ is designed to be noticed up close, not across the room, and it lasts throughout the day.
How long it stays depends on what you use. The Foundation Shampoo and Conditioner cleanse thoroughly, clearing away earlier products and any scent they left behind. Leave-in stylers like Milk Hair Serum and Santa Lucia Styling Oil stay on the hair, so the scent lingers even longer.

Fresh, green and quietly luxurious, RŌZ is a little piece of Big Sur you carry with you all day.
